The Berkeley School Parents Association

Building Community — Volunteering — Parent Education

The TBS Parents Association exists to build a community around our children, to foster and support a culture of volunteerism, and to support parents in their roles as child-rearing experts.

TBSPA Is You

Every parent at TBS is automatically a member of the Parents Association, but we hope you will become an active participant in the work of the Association and our community-building efforts at school. We need your time and your talents!

The Parents’ Association organizes activities and events throughout the year to bring parents, students, faculty, and staff together as a community. Through these efforts, TBS parents build strong working relationships, foster enduring friendships, and create an inclusive community that supports our children and our school.

2011-2012 TBS PA Core Team

How can you connect during the school year?

The TBS Parents Association cannot achieve any of its goals without your help, so get involved in your child’s education by volunteering your time. We encourage families to give a minimum of 20 hours per year (just 2.5 hours per month).

  • Donate your time at events, in your child’s classroom, however you can fit it in.
  • Come to one (or more!) Parent Education events.
  • Come to other TBS community events – including the TBS PA’s monthly Community Potlucks

Contact TBSPA Volunteer Coordinator, to find out more about these and many other ways to get involved: volunteer@theberkeleyschool.org.

TBSPA Supports Our Teachers

Last year, the Parents Association took responsibility for raising substantial funds to support our teachers’ professional development through the fourth annual Honoring Our Teachers Auction, held in May, 2011. This festive event netted tens of thousands of dollars for our terrific teachers’ continuing professional education and our school, and was a fabulous community-building experience as well! Held at the beautiful Hotel Shattuck Plaza in downtown Berkeley, it was another great success! Stay tuned for more information on this year’s auction, or email auction@theberkeleyschool.org.
