Calling all adventure seekers, flavorologists, super tasters and budding chefs to Taste Adventures Special Winter Series Baking - Savory & Sweet - From focaccia to tarts to gluten free crackers and cakes to sweet and savory pastries, we'll be baking up a storm this winter.Playing with a variety of flours, including organic all purpose wheat, sprouted spelt, kamut, graham and a few gluten free forays. We'll roll up our sleeves and try our hands at baking breads, crackers, roll, cakes, pies and pastries. Chef Instructor: Harriet Trezevant, MHEd)
Harriet has been passionate about cooking since she was three and made scrambled eggs in a tiny cast iron pan. When she was five, her father’s boyfriend gave her an EasyBake Oven. She went through a lot of lightbulbs, “baking” those tiny cakes. When she was nine, her mom gave her a copy of The Joy of Cooking. It’s now thoroughly duct-taped and contains loads of notes scribbled across the pages. After obtaining a master's degree in Health Education, starting a family, and working as an executive speechwriter, Harriet attended the San Francisco Cooking School's Professional Culinary Program and finally achieved her goal of working with food full-time. Her mission is to empower children (and adults!) to appreciate the complexities and vast varieties of tastes that cultures around the world have to offer.
