Time Frame and Transit

Students depart strictly at 9:45am.

Students will return to campus between 2:15-2:30pm. 6-8 will have exploratory. Normal Dismissal.

We will be commuting by BART and all tickets have been purchased.
What to prepare and what to know:
-
Students should bring WARMER clothing - sweaters, coats, gloves, hats, etc. Ice skating rinks (indoors or outdoors) can get chilly
-
Students will not need binders or full backpacks on the trip and can leave them at school and pick them up when they return to campus
-
Students should bring a packed lunch, snacks, and water bottle (cancel Foodies)
-
Students will not be permitted to purchase anything on the trip.
-
Tickets have already been purchased by the school, and there is no cost to attend!

Skating is OPTIONAL, staff will bring board games and other activities for those who do NOT wish to participate in skating.
-
There will be no one campus offerings for students who do not wish to go. We are still inviting all students and wishing all students to attend even if they do not wish to skate.
Forms went home before break, but in case it got lost in transit - below you will find the two field trip forms that need to be signed and filled out to be returned by tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4th.

Here are a few other things to know:
a. Schools attending and times they will be there: Parenting adults, it has been requested that you STAY in your cars for drop-off and pick-up.

b. Students will not be checked in until a chaperone from their school arrives.
c. The Dance will be indoors in their Gym.

e. If a student needs to leave early, they must be checked out by their school chaperone.
f. Students can send a playlist directly to our DJ Bitesize Request line number...May need parent assistance.
g. School is asking that cell phones not be on the dance floor. They will have a basket for students to turn in their phones when they enter and pick them up when the dance ends. Students can also keep them inside their backpacks.

With the transition of Autumn to Winter approaching, we wanted to extend a warm invitation to the 3rd annual ECC Lantern Walk. This event is so special and is not to be missed!
Throughout the fall season children have been learning about how people the world over embrace the change of season by celebrating autumnal holidays, many of them centered on themes of harvest, compassion, gratitude, family, and bringing light to times of darkness. In that spirit, we invite you to join us for a special Lantern Walk on the evening of Friday, December 13th. This year, all ECC Families (siblings welcome) are invited to join us at our University Avenue Campus from 6:00 to 6:45pm to walk around the center of campus with our classroom-made lanterns lit up as we celebrate, sing and welcome Winter. On your way out, we will offer some warm apple cider.
We encourage you to have your child fed and dressed in pajamas so that they can return home ready for bedtime with their special lantern lit to inspire sweet dreams.

Students will eat lunch before leaving and return to the UAC campus in time for dismissal.
Your student was given a permission form on paper for you to sign. Please complete the paper form and have your student return it by this Thursday, December 12th.
We need the help of 3-5 parenting adult drivers! If you are able to help drive students there (leaving the UAC at 11:30am), and/or back (leaving the Food Bank at 3:00pm), please complete the driver chaperone section of the permission form. We greatly appreciate your help!
On the day of the trip, please make sure your student is prepared according to these guidelines from the Food Bank:

Shoes covering your entire foot are required, preferably sneakers or boots.

Appropriate clothing should be worn for your volunteer shift - limited jewelry, no perfume/cologne, and comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of sturdy, reusable work gloves.

Dressing in layers is recommended since the warehouse is not climate-controlled. This also means that the air quality outside will affect the air quality in the warehouse - please be aware of this if you have respiratory sensitivities.
We also recommend students bring a water bottle and a snack.

We have another December field trip coming up! It was great to have family and friends join us in the classrooms for VIP day, so great that we want to welcome you back on Thursday, Dec. 19th for our CerritoBerry Feast! Save the date!
We are bringing back a 4th and 5th grade tradition of students cooking and serving a meal of gratitude for parenting adults. The meal will be stone soup style where each student will contribute an ingredient and we will cook the morning of. Students may have two guests come to the meal, which will be from 12:30-1:30. Please RSVP on this post and stay tuned for a volunteer sign-up sheet for those of you who would like to help cook or clean up.
Each class will host their own meal which will be vegan friendly.
